Dr. Dowling was born and raised in Orlando, FL. He graduated from William R. Boone High School in downtown Orlando. He then attended the University of Florida where he obtained a B.S. in Chemistry. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa for academic excellence at UF. Dr. Dowling continued his education in Gainesville at the University of Florida College of Dentistry where he received his DMD. While at UF, Dr. Dowling received many awards for clinical and academic achievement. Dr. Dowling was the valedictorian at the University of Florida’s College of Dentistry and continues to have close ties to his alma mater.

Following his graduation from The University of Florida, Dr. Dowling continued his surgical training in Lincoln, Nebraska at The University of Nebraska College of Dentistry and Veterans Administration Hospital. This is where he earned his post-doctoral certificate in Periodontics.

Following his specialty training, Dr. Dowling returned to Orlando and founded the dental specialty group, Dowling and Dowling, PA, with his wife, Dr. Patti Dowling. Their practice specialized in endodontics, periodontics and implant therapy working closely with general dentists and other dental specialists throughout the Central Florida region. The practice recently changed their name to Pinnacle Endodontics, Periodontics, and Implants to reflect the growth and commitment to their patients and fellow dental caregivers.

Dr. Dowling contributes to many professional and service organizations including The American Academy of Periodontology, Florida Association of Periodontists, The American Dental Association, The Florida Dental Association, the Greater Orlando Dental Association and the Central District Dental Society. Dr. Dowling provides volunteer surgical care to several community service organizations here in Central Florida and South America.

Dr. Alan Dowling is proud to have cared for tens of thousands of patients over the last 25 years in the Orlando dental community. He has extensive experience in all forms of periodontal surgery and implant therapy to improve the dental health of his patients.

While out of the office, Dr. Dowling enjoys surfing, golfing, farming, and spending time with his family.
